Weekly Roundup: 18-24th June 2012
 

The sun looks like it might start to shine this week, and fingers crossed it will continue to shine on our Disability Sports Have A Go Day on Sunday 24th June 10am to 4pm at Derby College.

This week sees a number of national events including Falls Awareness Week, Carers Week, and Motor Neurone Disease Awareness Month.  We will be out in the community with information stands and are always happy to take questions.

 

Monday

Carers service at Derby Cathedral.  11am to 12pm.

 

Carers Event with Derbyshire Carers at the Age UK Derby 50+ Wellbeing Centre in the Eagle Market. 1pm to 3pm. 

Our Carer Support Worker Jill will be there to take any questions.

 

Tuesday

Information Stand at Hollybrook Medical Centre in Littleover from 11am. 

Jas, our BME Outreach Worker will be there to take any questions.

 

Thursday

Falls Awareness Event at the London Road Community Hospital, held in the SpARC centre (SpARC is to the left of the main entrance). 10am to 2pm.

Nicola and Fawn from our Information Team will be there with an Information Stand to take any questions.

Carers Breaks Launch Events at the Quad on The Market Place, Derby.  11am to 2pm. 

Come along to Quad and experience a variety of activities as part of Derby Carers Break Scheme.  All activities are free and are available for carers who are registered with a GP within Derby City.  Jill, our Carer Support Worker will be at the Launch event, so why not drop by.

 

Friday

Meet The Providers at YMCA London Road.  10am to 2pm.

Come and see what some local organisations have to offer.  The event is about modernising support arrangements for local people with a Learning Disability.  Jill and Nicola will be around to talk about what Disability Direct can offer.

Sunday

Have a Go Day Disability Sports at Derby College, The Johnson Building, Locomotive Way, Pride Park, DE24 8PU.  10am to 4pm.

Have a Go Day is for all ages and abilities to come and have a go at a wide range of different disability sports, including; Accessible Gym Facilities, Wheelchair Basketball, Boccia, Football and many more.  A variety of Disability Direct staff will be present throughout the day, including our Just Fun Activity Coordinator Will.
